In the treatment of many diseases, antibiotics are considered a “miraculous weapon” against dangerous bacteria that cause diseases and can be a life-saving therapy. However, it is important to understand that they have side-effects and that they can damage the gut microbiota. Almost half of all patients using antibiotics suffer from their adverse effects, especially those that affect the digestive system such as diarrhoea (AAD = Antibiotic-associated diarrhoea). These effects occur because, in addition to the bad bacteria, antibiotics simultaneously damage the natural, healthy intestinal bacteria which disrupts the natural balance of bacteria in your gut. Scientific studies – including those performed in Austria – show that OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD regenerates the gut microflora with the help of specially selected bacteria strains and their high numbers.
No antibiotic treatment without specially selected intestinal bacteria. Selected bacteria strains and prebiotics with enzymes.
Packaging: 10 and 30 sachets
What is the OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement?
The OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement contains a combination of specially selected 10 strains of bacteria naturally occurring in the intestine and a prebiotic** that provides optimal food for the proliferation and growth. This kind of combination is called synbiotic***.
Why do antibiotics cause digestive problems?
In the treatment of many diseases, antibiotics are considered a “miraculous weapon” against dangerous bacteria that cause diseases, and can be a life-saving therapy. However, it is important to understand that they have side-effects and that they can damage the natural gut microbiota. Almost everyone has experienced various digestive problems, such as nausea, constipation or diarrhoea, during or after using antibiotics. These effects occur because, in addition to the bad bacteria, antibiotics simultaneously damage the natural, healthy intestinal bacteria which disrupts the natural balance of bacteria in your gut. Thereby, dangerous micro-organisms (eg. Clostridium difficile or NDM1)1 and their toxins can rapidly multiply and among other things lead to severe diarrhoea, so-called antibiotics-associated diarrhoea or AAD.
Why are the selected bacteria strains important for the intestines?
A high diversity of good intestinal bacteria and their metabolic activity is absolutely necessary to maintain a healthy digestion. These strains (= naturally occurring bacteria important for normal digestion)also defend our body against the causes of diseases, toxins from the environment and substances that end up in our intestines via food that can lead to chronic damage and consequently cancer. Research2, 3, 4 has shown that taking specifically selected probiotic strains of bacteria helps prevent the growth of harmful micro-organisms and digestive problems (e.g. diarrhoea).
What are the special characteristics of the OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement?
A special matrix in which ten bacteria strains from OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD were integrated, was developed after several years of research work to activate the bacteria and to make them resistant to gastric and bile acids. The excellent effects of OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD were confirmed by the Academic Hospital Maastricht and are constantly controlled via observations and research.
Global recognition for the research on the OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement! The high quality of this synbiotic that remains undamaged after passing through the stomach to perform its tasks in the intestines was confirmed by the World Gastroenterology Organisation.
A research study on the OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology in 2008) was chosen as one of the twelve best and most relevant studies in the field of probiotics (www.worldgastroenterology.org).
Why is a combination of several strains of bacteria more beneficial than using one strain?
A very high number of active bacteria per one sachet (5 billion) as well as a mix of ten different probiotic strains of bacteria create properties and characteristics responsible for the success and results of the OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement. A combination of various types of bacteria helps them settle and grow in the intestines; this also leads to lower pH values on the intestinal mucous membrane which reduced the growth of pathogenic bacteria
When should the OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement be used?
Since antibiotics can ruin the gut microflora, it is certainly recommended to use the OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement during an antibiotic therapy and for at least 2 weeks afterwards. Using certain antibiotics can cause long-term digestive problems; if so, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist. The OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement can be used without a time restriction.
How to use the OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement
Stir the recommended daily intake of OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD (= 1-2 sachets) into 1/8 l of water, wait at least 1 minute for it to activate, stir again and then drink. Ideally, OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD should not be taken together with an antibiotic, but at least 1 hour before or after. During an antibiotic therapy: 2×1 sachet per day. After the antibiotic therapy: 1 sachet once daily for at least 14 days. Children up to 3 years of age take half the dosage.
Can the OMNi-BiOTiC® 10 AAD food supplement be used unlimitedly?
Yes. All OMNi-BiOTiC® products can be used every day. They are food supplements that perform a physiological function in the digestion system.
*Probiotics are products that contain live micro-organisms and have a beneficial effect on human health (host) if sufficient quantities are consumed.
** Prebiotics are defined as non-digestible nutrients that stimulate the growth and activity of the micro-organisms in the intestines.
*** Synbiotics are a combination of probiotics and prebiotics that beneficially affect the host and maintain a balance in the intestines by stimulating growth and/or activating the metabolism of good bacteria.
